Update: South China Adds to Capacity Issues

December 15, 2020

Due to COVID-19 quarantine requirements, feeder operators have announced their services to be suspended from mid-January to the end of February 2021. Carriers such as MSC, ONE, Hapag-Lloyd, and Hamburg-Sud have officially announced the suspension of feeder service.

Inland areas that are affected include, but are not limited to: Hainan, Guangxi and “Pearl River Delta” area including but not limited to Dongguan, Guangzhou, Huangpu, Huizhou, Foshan, Jiangmen, Sanshui, Shantou, Zhongshan, Zhuhai, Zhanjiang, and other areas.

Several carriers have already announced suspensions, and our sources expect others to announce the same in the coming days. Please note this is a temporary suspension, applicable for shipments with estimated arrival dates from January 5, 2021 to February 26, 2021.

During this period, typical alternative modes of transport will be trucking services to YTN or HKG port. Masterpiece can also offer other trucking services in the region and alternatives including stuffing and submission to the port. Please reach out to a Masterpiece representative for more information.

Masterpiece International is working to keep our customers updated with any updates or changes. If you have any questions or concerns related to shipments headed to South China, please reach out to your local Masterpiece representative.
